Try On or Take Home: Ankle Strap Pumps

Even though my wardrobe will remain in summer mode for at least the next month, my eyes are already starting to wander toward fall footwear.  I am currently lusting after (and will need to splurge on) a pair of ankle strap pumps, which seem to be everywhere these days.  The rouge-colors of the J.Crew and Sam Edelman pairs below, along with their warmer textures of suede and calf hair, make them the perfect transition shoe from summer to fall.  Lucky for me, in this case, I’m much more in love with the more affordable pair of Sams.

Chambray All Day

If you’ve seen me at all in the past year, chances are you’ve seen me wearing my favorite chambray shirt from J. Crew that I bought back a couple winters ago.  I wear it with skirts, layered under cardigans, with leggings, denim-on-denim, as a bathing suit cover-up, with neon shorts, and about a zillion other outfit combos over the past couple years. Lucky for me, chambray is versatile enough for winter, spring, summer, or fall, and can be paired with casual wear for a daytime look, or dressed up!  What are some of your favorite ways to wear chambray?

A Touch of Metallic

I had to. I just had to.  These little babies popped up during my online guilty Gilt shop during lunch and there was no turning back. They arrive in a few days.  Side note to my husband: go easy on me 😉

I love the juxtaposition of the nude, coral, and metallic leather straps. The deal ($79 down from $215) wasn’t bad either!

Here are a few other fab sandals that offer just a touch of metallic, obviously on track to be one of this summer’s trends:

What do you guys think? Will touches of metallic make it into your shoe wardrobe this spring/summer? xo

Winter Mint

My favorite new winter trend is the mint pieces and accessories I’ve been seeing everywhere.  I can’t wait to pair the H & M blazer with a black skirt at work and shed my dark polish for something clean and bright!  Will you be wearing mint this winter?

We Need to Talk About Milly

I certainly don’t consider myself a fashion blogger, nor am I even a fashionista in my day-to-day style.  Currently, I’m wearing black leggings from Urban Outfitters, a grey camisole from Target, and an oversized pink and grey cardigan from H & M. (Yes – leggings as pants, people!)  Frumpy, at best.   I sit behind my laptop looking at photos from NY Fashion Week and the award season red  carpets and drool over clothes I will never be able to afford that will never fit me anyway. Le Sigh.

Perhaps one of the upsides of not being a fashionista is that I’m often introduced to new designers while I troll the runway blogs.  I’m hopelessly out of the loop, which only makes me twice as excited when I come across a designer as yet unknown to me.  Double bonus: when I really, really, really love their line!

That brings me to Milly by Michelle Smith.  Yes, I realize after doing my research that the line has been around for nearly 10 years. (I already explained how in the dark I am, so no need to tell me so in the comments).  Even if you’ve been a loyal Milly follower for all these years, there’s so much to get excited about in her new collection including the bold color blocking, retro prints mixed beautifully with modern lines, and totally wearable blazers and cardigans. Feast your eyes on her Fall 2012 collection which hit the runway last month:

Thoughts? Are you in lust as well? I’d love to hear what some of your favorite designers are.  Have a fabulous evening every lovely body! xo
